Inspiring Quotes from last Million People March

“Honorable people are those who fear God, respect life, value their fellowmen, care for the country, and respect nature,” - Manila Archbishop

“By marching on the streets, we could leave a legacy for our students and our own children that they will grow up in a country free of corruption and thievery and would make them proud as Filipino people,” - Chairman, Teachers’ Dignity Coalition (TDC)

“We are the noble shepherds in saddled toil who dwell within cultures so foreign & coil; we nurture your nation dispensing our greens but your voracious vultures devour our means.” W.D. Leader, an OFW in the ME

The "Pocket Picnic" in Luneta

Filipinos mostly the “netizens” instigated the Million People March to Luneta last, August 26, 2014 calling for the unconditional scrapping of the lawmaker’s pork barrel fund. The target number was one million. Although the number may be hard to achieve, something must be initiated to let those wicked lawmakers recognize our anger brought about by the prevailing corruption in our government system, the egocentric policies of Congress and the apparent reluctance of the judiciary to persecute the obvious guilty parties.

There are no single organizers. It was an ambitious goal for an anger that has been mostly expressed online. The event, triggered by sentiments posted on primary social media such as Facebook and Twitter tested the netizens motivation.

The message is simple. Scrap the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) and charged all individuals and lawmakers involved in the alleged P10 Billion pork barrel scam. There must be no excuses, no preconditions or postponements and no diversionary tactics.

There was no colors suggested except for any shades of anger, although white was a preferred choice to avoid injecting political influence in the "pocket picnic" for taxpayers. More importantly, there were no partisan speeches or rallying cries except those coming from ordinary folks.

For several weeks, social media has been buzzing with outrage since news broke about the pork barrel fund racket allegedly led by Janet Lim-Napoles. The businesswoman was accused of channeling money from the PDAF of several lawmakers to her own accounts through various bogus non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and foundations.

Regular and struggling Filipino taxpayers both local and abroad are not working to make these wicked lawmakers and a few voracious individuals pocket millions of pesos to serve their incalculable hunger for lavish lifestyle.

It is time to face this biggest corruption scandal and demand that heads MUST roll.

It is time to make our physical presence felt and face reality.

It is time for the President to hear and listen attentively to his bosses!
